Typically, an engagement ring is the first and most expensive piece of serious jewellery many people invest in, often starting at around $10,000 and usually centring on a diamond. The symbolism is clear: the beauty, purity and durability of the diamond represents the love that is shared, only surpassed in importance by the wedding ring – an unbroken band reflecting the linking of two hearts.

Traditionally, the engagement ring is designed to be worn all day, every day, later in conjunction with a wedding ring and afterwards with an eternity ring as well. It needs to suit every outfit, match other accessories and withstand the rigours of daily life. It’s a lot to ask of a single piece of jewellery and these are the requirements that must be taken into account when designing the ring.

For those who prefer more versatility, I have created the Cocktail Enagement Ring.
